Bay window use existing roof broken?

I've been having all kinds of odd things happen trying to put in a bay window that uses the existing roof, so I broke it down to a simple case. In this screen shot I added a bay window with default settings and then changed the angle to 35 degrees. It seems to be impossible to set the size and angle the way it's actually built without the roof doing this. This is Pro 2014.

Odd things commonly occur when using 3D modeling software with as many automaticities built into as Home Designer software has (it is a complicated piece of code).
You just persist until you get what you intend, watching your dialog box settings as you go along.

I've tried everything I can think and it seems absolutely any customization messed it up. I can understand if it ends up being deeper than the overhang but in this case I'm making it more shallow. It's really not a useful tool in the current state.

    I've tried everything...
Meaning NO disrespect there is a large difference between trying and being successful, just stay at it, find the words or terms that you do not yet fully understand, get them well understood and then you will win through.

This software requires that settings are correct and actions taken are the right ones in the right sequence and that takes dedicated study and practice.
