Object Rotation
Is there a way to rotate an object in space so that it's flat on the floor or the other way round?
Some of the objects imported eg. a shower fixture, are imported as if fixed on the floor (http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehou...3&prevstart=24).
Can they be rotated to look like fixed on the wall?Home Designer Architectural 2014

The short answer is ... not in the Home Designer line of software. The longer answer is ... depending on they source type, you may be able to open the model in a third-party 3D software, rotate the model to your desired axis, and then save and import it into your Home Designer model. So, for example, if you're trying to import a model created in SketchUp but you need to orient it differently, then open the model in SketchUp (free), rotate it, and then save it in a version compatible to importing into Home Designer Suite, Architectural, or Pro.
Hope this helps.Home Designer Pro 8

Exactly what do you mean by saying "open the model in SketchUp (free)"? Because I'm a little slow about these things.

Arthur,
SketchUp is 3D modeling software from Trimble. They have Pro (paid) and Make (free) versions. Open any model with the .skp file extension with SketchUp to reposition on the z axis (HD can do x/y but not z)

I have a related question about limited ability to rotate 3D objects in Home Designer. Can library objects be exported to, for instance, SketchUp so that their axes of rotation can be changed? I haven't been able to do this so far.

The short answer is, "No." HD titles do not provide any interoperability with 3rd-party software.

This may not be a question that you can answer, but does anyone know what the difficulty is that prevents z-axis rotation in HD software, given that it is such a common operation required in architectural design?

That is a feature that exists in Chief Architect Premier, no Home Designer titles have this ability.

Strange... "Flip and Rotate" are listed as features of Home Designer Pro.
