Double Bay Window in room corner

I am new to Home Designer and have grasped must of the software and managed to get a good design going.

But I have come accross a stumbling block with regards to a double bay window in my house which is placed in the corner of the room.

There are 2 issues.

1. The actual structure has post in the corner with beams supporting the roof over the 2 bay windows.
There is no external wall in the corner.
The 2 widows join each other at the corner and are finished with a mullion.
How do I achieve this???

2. Since the bay window did not work I tried to build the wall to the shape of the bay.
The brick wall bellow the bay window is wider than the overhang.
this causes the wall to protrude past the roof.
I have tried to shorten the wall to the sill height but then the window doesn't work.

I have attached the window plans of what I am trying to achieve.

Any help would be great.

See if this works. Go to the library> Home designer core catalog> Architectural> windows> protruding> Oriel. I got what I wanted with that but not sure that's what you're looking for.

Think there is a setting in the WALL DBX to "stop at ceiling" see if that works but don't know your version so not sure if you have that option?

What I am trying to achieve is to have a bay window in the corner of the room that extends from floor level to fascia level.

They have a brick veneer wall up to 350mm with brick sills then windows up to the fascia.

The windows have no external walls between them only mullions.

Basically I want to know how I can stop the wall at 350mm and join the windows with mullions.

I will check the other suggestions tonight.

Try this to see if it works for you.


The 1st thing to do: tool bar Edit / default settings / plan / check 'casing ignored'.

I experimented and found out that for some reason glass shower walls allow windows to be placed closer to end walls?

Draw a temporary short wall, open the wall spec, choose 'glass shower' (upper wall type if you used a pony wall) and change the thickness to 6.5" (oops...typo on the 2d pic).
This keeps the walls at the same thickness they need to be (as exterior walls).

Select each diagonal wall and change the upper wall to 'glass shower 7' which now miraculously appears in the wall type choices.

Expand all the windows as far as allowed. Sometimes they will mull together as needed, other times not. It might take a lot of playing around to get things sized just right.

Next, add corner board trim (tool bar BUILD / trim / corner board) inside and outside to cover up any gaps that allow the see-thru glass wall to show. It may be necessary to resize the corner board trim.
