    Deck framing

I cannot get my deck framing or planking to display in either plan view or 3D camera view. I have checked both display settings to make sure they are checked. What can I do?

How do you do that? I used the build deck feature and I can see the framing in 3D but not plan.

You have not yet said what (which) software you have but never the less all Home Designer titles have a "Display Options" dialog where you have control over what shows and what does not show separately, one dialog for plan view, one for camera views and one that controls the "Reference View", each can be set differently.
This is probably why it shows in 3-D but not in plan (2-D).

Those dialogs can be found under "Tools -Display Settings", the one for plan view is accessible while in plan view, the other is accessible while actively in a camera view.

Objects are grouped by name, alphabetically per dialog and can be checked "on" or "off" at your choice.

I have the Home Designer 2012 Landscape and Deck version. I have gone into the display settings and turned the framing and decking on and turned decking off to see planking. It works in 3D put not plan. Is there anither filter that may be overriding?

No, there are only two possibilities:

    1. No deck planking has been built and that is why it cannot be seen (you said it can be seen so I assume it is there to be seen)

    2. Deck planking is turned on in the Display Options dialog for camera views and is turned off in the Display Options dialog for plan views

The perhaps tricky part of this for new users is that there are three distinctly different "Display Options" dialogs in all Home Designer software, one for plan view only, one for camera views and one for Reference floor views

The Dialogs for plan view and Reference floors are found while in plan view mode by going to "Tools - Display Settings or Tools - Reference Floors" and the one for camera views can be accessed only while in a camera view (camera mode) by again going to "Tools -Display Settings -Display Options" WHILE in an actively open camera view.

That is what is probably tripping you up (not knowing that).
