Front entry roof

I am working with one story prairie inspired house plan and trying to incorporate a front entry porch area with a wide overhanging hip roof that ties into the roof line above the lower plane of the main roof. I cannot figure out how to accomplish this.There are actually several areas over windows where I want this treatment as well. I can only seem to create a roof with overhangs a uniform distance from the ground. Do I need to change the exterior/interior wall heights in certain area? I am not sure if that is the solution or how to do that. I have watched the tutorials and looked at the manual but cannot find this addressed anywhere. I have Home Designer Architectural 2014 and am definitely a novice, but I watched the entire set of training videos before I got started and everything has been going pretty smoothly until this. Any suggestions?
