    gable roof over alcove

    Hi all,

I just started using Home Designer Architectural 2014 and I'm trying to model a gable roof over an alcove. I'm modeling a building which has an exterior door inset a few feet from the wall. The ceiling over the alcove is right above the door frame. So after I use the Gable/Roof Line to extend the roof over the alcove, I view it in 3D and see that the alcove extends all the way up to the peak of the roof.

How do I "fill in" the alcove?

(I tried to insert an image of what I'm talking about but the "Insert Image From Computer" is not working properly)

    Thanks...

    Thanks Dan,

I did a search for alcoves/gable roofs and found some posts. But they did not address my specific concern.

Still having trouble with uploading a screen shot of my issue. After clicking reply to thread/attachments/add files. I navigate to my file (which is 30 KB) and click upload. Then the upload manager spins and spins.....and spins.

Anyway, I'll wait to see if anyone has any experience with my issue and go from there.

    Regards,
    Jim

Without being able to see what you mean by "alcove" and being limited, in terms of no manual roof tools (as in HD Pro), you might try temporarily placing a window in the alcove and use the window to place a "Gable over the window" setting to get a small gable over the temporary window then after you get the roof, remove the window.
Completely guessing since I cannot see what you are doing nor why.
