Question Putting a single roof over a two level slab / deck combination

I just purchased Home Designer Architectural 2014 and have been testing out design concepts, but I stumped about how to accomplish my objective. I am attempting to design a deck, slab and integrated roof. The a single common roof would cover the unattached deck plus provide partial coverage for the concrete slab that will support a hot tub. The slab exists and it will be ~15 inches below the deck. I have read about how to add a roof over a deck, but don't know how to build an integrated roof over the two areas. Any suggestions.

Create the entire structure using the deck railing tool. Divide the structure into individual rooms using the wall break tool.

Open the deck room specification box and raise floor C to 15". Check 'roof over room'.
Open each railing wall and choose ' post to ceiling'. You may want to change the distance spacing for the newels.

Open slab 1 and give floor C maybe 1". Check 'roof over room'.
Open each railing and specify the posts same as the deck. If you want no railing, check 'no rail'.

Open slab 3 and uncheck 'roof over room'.
Open each railing and check 'invisible'.

JoAnn nails it again. I guess the only thing missing is the hot tub.
Fortunately our roving reporter caught this candid shot of what
appears to be a planning session of some sort.

    JoAnn,

Thanks for the help. I will use your approach to fix my current design. If I run into problems, I will post an image as Dave suggests.

P.S. LIked the hot tub image.

Thanks for the help in providing guidance to build a common roof over a slab and deck. As the images show, I have completed the basic design. However, when I attempted to split the wall and apply different newel setting to adjust the design to a custom 4 post arrangement, the design would not take for some reason. I also ran into a problem adjusting the height of the intermediate posts next to the stairs. I suspect I may have to start over an adjust the deck dimensions first, but thought I'd seek advice first. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to adjust my design as show in the second figure?

Call for JoAnn on line 3.... Well I don't have the plan and its a little hard to tell from the pics but here is a stripped down version of your deck (sans slabs and hot tub). Is this the effect you are trying to achieve?

You can leave the back wall and left wall railings as 'post to overhead beam', but the rest of the walls will have to be changed to 'post to rail'.
Part of (or all of) the wall adjacent to the hot tub needs to be designated as 'invisible' to eliminate the posts at the top of the stairs.
You will now no longer have posts to the ceiling at the front corners of the deck. You can use soffits to simulate these support posts.

P.S. I like your new signature, Rich.

SRL, here is another approach you might want to try. As you can see from the plan view I formed the deck railing by daisy chaining together individual segments with different attributes. Where ever you want a rail use the Straight Deck Railing tool. Where you want an opening (as for the stairs) use the Straight Deck Edge tool. This will generate everything except for the 3 missing pieces of the top beams which I filled in with soffits (the gray portions in the 3D view). It seemed a lot easier than trying to break up the full length sections of railing and requires no invisible walls.

I can't remember where I got it but I've had a 5 x 8 card with that saying printed on it on my wall since before the days of computer printing (you know like when you had to go to an actual print shop for things like business cards and the like).

Say, while I'm thinking about it, you haven't seen my rubber ducky anywhere around have you?
